This has the original audio without the mood music.

Get out your copy of Great Model Railroads 2009 and follow my train as it makes it's way along Jim Pendley's Western Pacific layout. This Feather River Route re-creation features the landmark Keddie Wye bridge.

Scene #1 - The southern canyon
Scene #2 - The Keddie Wye Bridge (aka Spanish Creek Trestle)
Scene #3 - The Clear Creek Bridge (aka Steinheimer Bridge)

  • Is this your facility?

  • I wish! It's the creation of a friend of mine. This layout was the feature article in the Kalmbach annual publication GREAT MODEL RAILROADS 2009.

  • What a fantastic job! I have driven Hwy 70 up to Reno more times than I can count. You really nailed the scenery. I especially liked to see the strands of wires to detect rock slides, the leaning power poles and the shed over the track to deflect falling rocks.

    AAA+++

    Thanks for all the nice comments. Jim Pendley

  • THIS IS FANTASTIC!.....so realistic...didn't know HO could pull such long trains....

  • Thanks, I didn't build the layout, I'm just running on it. There are much longer trains in some of my other videos.

  • My compliments to Jim on some very impressive (and massive!) scenery work. I work as a model maker and have done custom layouts in the past, and I definitely take my hat off to him! Really impressive.

  • @JBofBrisbane it's been quite a while for me....I usually work weekends making in diffulct to get away and see what's all taking place nowadays with model railroading. BTW, I model in 1:1

  • @turnoutjim - you need to get out to more train shows.

  • Love the replica model of the keddie wye and that great silver colored steel viaduct. The realistic sounds too!

  • wish I had money, time, and room to build a layout like this!!!

  • very nice facility, hardly distinguishable from the real railway, great sound, interesting video
