His modesty, in person, but especially in the original video, is part of the appeal - in addition, obviously, to the incredibly skillful performance.
We're so used to seeing guitar players grimacing in pain as they exert superhuman effort to play much simpler, shorter solos, that seeing Mr. Lim's seemingly effortless, and anonymous, version, in which there's not a hint of the, "look at me, look at me," characteristic of most rock stars is, to me, charming.
Mr. Lim, you deserve the acclaim.
