This short film was created for the Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project 2010.

It was 1987, and Paula Williams stole something valuable from her ex-boyfriend Harry Fontaine, and Harry and his buddy Blake will stop at nothing to get back.

This was filmed on the Canon Vixia HV30 in 24p cinema mode. I used an Azden SMX-10 stereo condenser microphone (on a boom pole at the bus stop scene), the MiniDV Stabilizer, and a cheap Targus Tripod. I used my cheap tennis ball dolly for a few shots. The intro was created in Adobe After Effects CS3, and the entire video was edited in full 1080p in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. This film was scripted, shot, and edited in 48 Hours. (This version is a SLIGHTLY altered HD version for youtube)

  • better acters wouldve made this perect man. everything else A+

  • @bigpimpinCBP

thanks! i think the real problem though was the audio and the story, not the actors. and the editing errors.

  • dude you need a better mic. yours picks up too much ambience. your vid looks good, but the dialogue is too meshed in with ambience.

get a seperate audio unit to work with your t2i. sync in post. and maybe even a new mic.

  • @xcjairo

The mic is actually okay, I was using it badly here. Also, this isn't the t2i, this is the HV30.

take a look at my more recent work, and other videos i've made with this mic. Like the i lost my penny video or baby's back.

But i know it's not pro quality, which is why now I use the Rode Videomic as my main mic, and this mic as a backup.

Also, I only used a boompole in the bus scene. the rest was on camera. And i mixed the audio levels too low, which might have had a significant impact.

  • what type of lighting did u used @ 3:32

  • @ninjaduderantaro

    bad lighting... lol

it was just the regular ceiling lights.

  • Being about 40, I couldn't resist temptation to look for things that seem out of place for a piece taking place in the 80's (if I read it right) and I compliment the crew on avoiding almost anything that would give it away. The only thing I noticed was the small sign in the yard. Home security system signs didn't catch on until around the mid 90's. As for the audio, having done TV production & editing, I would recomend investing in a lappel mic or two to hide on main actors during key dialogs.

  • That fat dude had pancake nipples

  • did you use any dollies or jibs, etc?

  • lol, they dont know how to smoke xD

  • @BenHughesStudios well from a viewers view, it looked amazing an sounded great. btw sorry i comented on almost every vid u got lol

  • Get the audio from this tune at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • @BenHughesStudios

yea that bus scene sounded better than the others; which is why the others dont sound as good.

your rode mic does seem to work better. definitely be careful mixing the audio levels. its happened to me too many times where i overkill the dialogue/ambience with music or sound fx.

anywho goodluck and keep up the film work!
