You wash them in the washer; hot wash, extra rinse, the hot water and detergent take care of any bacteria that could be present. As to how many you need, at the very least you would need to have enough to make it through the period between washing loads, for most people two days. So for newborns you'd need around 3 dozen to be safe, if you used a one size diaper like this you'd only have to buy diapers once. With proper washing they're perfectly safe to wear again.

I just bought my pattern and my PUL fabric and hook and loop tape, I can't wait to start making these! Thank you so much for this!

But what do you do with the diaper after they mess themseleves just dump it in the toilet? How do you clean the feces out of the diaper completely and know it's safe to rewear again.
And what about diareaha? How many of these things do you suspect it would be logical to have? I know babies can burn through disposable diapers extremely quick.

They are wearing regular underwear under the diaper for demonstration purposes only. This is to protect their privacy.
The last girl in the video weighs 43 pounds and you can see that she still has room to grow in the diaper. It all depends on the child's physique.
Can you buy this diaper already made??? If you can where???
