What happens when you combine two elements randomly - does one confer meaning to the other? This is a random clip using music from Jen Clohen and The Endless Sea, a sensational Melbourne band (album Dead Wood Falls available on iTunes) and footage from Nasa of a booster rocket detaching from the space shuttle and spiraling back to the earth's ocean. The mash seems planned, but in fact it was entirely serendipitous. Though I had met Jen via my friend Monique Rhodes, also a talented musician (album Awakening available on iTunes), I had never heard her music. She appeared on the right hand column of my facebook account and looked familiar - the links led me to the album and I bought it as a self gift for my birthday.
I opened the Nasa footage in iMovie, thinking it was something else. The music was playing in the background and the two seemed to have fallen in love with one another.
What do you think? Could a 'shoot' have been planned more precisely to match?

  • 3704 views? we are walking among the deaf! Never mind, maybe it's better this music is not "popular". We are the lucky ones, who were able to "hear" this treasure.

  • This is beautiful...now I definitely have to buy her albums.

And this song and this video clipped matched beautifully, I really like it. Love the end, when it finally lands in the sea...and she sings ' not the stars, not the stars' because we're not in space any more.

Yeah, it is raelly interesting how it matched so well...

  • Beautiful. Lucky astronoughts... it would be nice if they could take turns chilling out with their ipods and taking all that in. (maybe they do). The earth looks like an occupied womb. Its atmosphere like the fluid between the two membrains incasing a womb...cant help paralelling...

  • Beautiful, but doesn't do justice to seeing them live! Whoo what stage presence! They're all so talented and spunky.

  • beautiful clip for one of my fave Jen songs... nice job!

  • Terrific. Must buy and enjoy.

  • Jen Cloher has just the most beautiful voice on the planet.

  • Beautiful :)

  • Would really appreciate it if you could upload more of the album!! The images are beautiful with this song, its like the guitar keeps things floating.
