http://www.FunctionalStrengthCoach3.com Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Boyle.

The release of my 'Death of Squatting' video has created a lot of controversy in the world of strength
training.

It's a good thing I have developed thick skin over the years and base my opinions on study, experience
and application

Since we're tackling difficult topics, today I want to cover another one:

Aerobic Base Training

Most sports base their 'conditioning' on first developing an aerobic base.

That idea is dead wrong. For a lot of people, this idea is more controversial than the idea of cutting
squats from your program.

The truth is we've been lied to for years about the benefits of aerobic base work and this video explains how and why:

  • @collin355 wait didnt he talk about @6:03 training several hockey players who were on teams in the frozen four? and whats wrong with training rich kids and helping them go from mediocre to stronger and faster athletes? Not everyone has the genetics like you see in inner city black athletes who go D1. It still takes alot of skill to train a slow fat kid into a decent quicker athlete.

  • Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

  • @armaghutube generall 90+ seconds is tapping into Aerobic, anything less is anaerobic. oh and if you're doing anaerobic make sure you have a work to rest ratio of 1:2 or 1:3, so say i sprint for 30 seconds, id rest for 90 sec

  • @staspmr looks or physical form don't correlate to knowledge about physical exercise and expertise in the field

  • @ishotapig yep, that's my max interval training sessions 2x a week. max

  • this guy is an idiot, ive watched his other videos, he provides no backup or reasons or evidence why squats etc are bad and alternatives.

however yes interval training is better than cardio, but for obese people they need to be on a stable slow cardio program. so cardio is perfect for them

  • this is bullshit, also its just as likely to have 3 sprinters from toronto as LA ,theyd be blacks from west african descent like they always are.Charlie was a great coach but he did aerobic trining with his sprinters, extensive tempo runs.

  • This is true, but mostly just for sports such as hockey, american football, rugby - where athletes seldom have to work for more than 1min at a time. For endurance sports, however, aerobic(zone 1)training is important to develop aerobic capacity upon which to build intense(zone 3-4)interval training. "There is no legit purpose to 30-40min cardio activity": actually, there is; while this won't IMPROVE your fitness, it will maintain it. Effective low-intensity (zone 1)should be done for over 1 hour

  • The aerobic base is just that, a base. Beginners definitely need to build an aerobic base before moving on to more advanced training methods.

  • @byebyenow1 well thers ur downfall..to improve in your "sport"?? PRATICE IT!!!!!...in the gym you wanna increase your strength....basic exercises are the way to go...Boyle trys to make himself look special by "inventing" these crazy exotic exercises...and levrone runs a 4.5 40 yard dash.and is a hell of alot stronger than any of boyles athletes...I still cant beleive that in the year 20011 the muscle bound myth still exists..lol
