Martha and the Muffins - Women around the world at work.

Hi CFNY'ers! I've been searching for my lost MM cd for ages and just found it today by accident. Made my weekend. Sorry for the crappy vid where the video is longer than the audio.

  • How's it goin?

Woo! That's cool, that you put this 1 up!!

I have the original cassette of this album....(S/T). red background. yes, it has This is The Ice Age. I personally like "You Sold the Cottage"....temporarily misplaced it in my rec. move.

Also have M+M "The World is a Ball" also. Did have 1984.... fun music!

  • It is fun. How's this for fun? watch?v=LX75Ivo1ZT0

I found it posted on a CFNY 102.1 board. ;)

  • @RetroCaptain Can you possibly post "Song in my Head" from The World is a Ball. I've looked everywhere online for it but all I can find is a post with some voice over on it :( thanks, if you can :)

  • @Jandressa64 Sorry, I don't have that one. Start hunting on eBay is my suggestion. It will show up eventually.

  • If anyone knows of any cool old CFNY 102.1 songs on on youtube then please send me the link or video number. Thanks!

As for those who don't know CFNY 102.1 was an awesome radio station in Toronto in the 80s.

  • Great song. From the masterpiece album "This is the Ice Age". Perfect. Working!!

  • At 41, sitting here, listening to this great old 80's tune...the images flash in front of me...I remember hearing this on the radio a lot way back when...I have come to think over the years after listening to tons and tons of different bands, Canadian stuff was different and very cool...a lot of unique bands in this great land of ours...

  • There's a man he must be 65... Sounds like the president. Great song.

  • Why is it that Canada has produced so many great bands and solo artists, and the USA with a vastly bigger population, hasn't?

  • I have the original lp. I bought it at Sam The Record Man here in Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada in1982. Their best. Better song than the more known Echo Beach. I got a laugh around 1981 or 1982 while watching the silly ''American Bandstand'' test out ''Echo Beach'' as a song new to most Americans. I don't recall if the kids they spoke to liked it. I laughed because it had already been a worldwide hit in 1980. Talk about an insular society. Still,I'm glad U-Tube provides it to new ears. Thanks.

  • This is a song much beloved by militant lesbians.

  • I was stranded in Montreal for ten days on a business business trip when the 9/11 disaster happened in 2001. I bought an M+M compilation and listened to it a lot during that week--not far from where the songs were recorded in the 80s. The song, "Waters of Babylon" was on that disc and it described the whole situation and mood of those days incredibly well. This is the greatest band of the 80s. Love them.

  • It's all about the Sax solo for me. Lyrics a bit lame and defensive but the Sax was like a breath of fresh air that totally redeemed everything....Awesome...

  • What a great tune, I seem to remember this was not a big hit. Too political I suppose. How many young bands today could even come close to this?
