They're all here: Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman, Alan Greenspan, Rand Paul, Ron Paul, Neal Boortz, Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, John Stossel--the whole motley crew. With some help from Mike Wallace, Maria Ouspenskaya, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, Cenk Uygur, Congressman Henry Waxman and Mike Malloy.

Note: This is not an objective analysis of these two ideologies. It's a subjective work of propaganda aimed at Americans undecided about the legitimacy of right-wing "libertarianism," (ie., anarcho-capitalism).

I'm aware that anarchist/libertarian socialism, or communism, and anarcho-capitalism aren't the only forms of anarchism. On the political left there's also anarchist collectivism, individualism, socialism, mutualism, syndicalism, pacifism, council communism, etc.

I stand by my statement that Ayn Rand was a sociopath. My mention of her rapid eye movement was only humor. She may have had a simple vision problem.

As far as left libertarian successes go, there's the Paris Commune of 1871, the Free Territory of Ukraine, 1919-1921, anarchist Catalonia and other provinces in Spain in 1936. And to a lesser extent, Yugoslavia under Tito and the brief Hungarian revolution against the Soviet Union. All of these anarchist experiments were destroyed by either Western liberal or fascist reactionary forces, or the Soviet Union, or by both. Today there are semi-socialist experiments like Mondragon in Spain which consists of over 250 federated companies, worker owned and managed. Ane there are also other smaller workers' cooperatives and federations around the world.

  • Libertarianism is the belief in the liberty, self-sufficiency and merit over state-dependency. This isn't Anarchy. It's small government. We want the least amount of funds abused possible. What we value is Objectivism. Things that literally aren't subjectively true. That's the definition of objective. Things that are empirically true. How can that be a bad thing? Because you cannot prove god is real empirically, the state shouldn't support it. Taxes are taken and used conservatively.

  • @LotharioRowe The first thing you should do in researching Libertarianism: read the Constitution of the United States.

  • Any argument that begins with a logical fallacy cannot end in a logical truth, and you began with an ad hominem.

  • @EclecticSceptic Democracy is not the solution, freedom is. Why do you people vote? So politicians can make decisions on how to spend your money. What gives them the authority to steal from you and spend your money? Theft is immoral, even Jesus said that. The fact is that Governments are criminal cartels in bed with elite bankers and have a monopoly on writing laws and policing our activities. Democracy has to end, freedom works.

  • Lol, you post actual videos of these people speaking, and people say you don't understand libertarianism.

  • That MSNBC is a moron who can't understand the merits of Rand Paul's argument. But most people fail to understand the subtle difference between advocating freedom and the act protected.

  • @nikolayzou Democracy is immoral? How else do you expect people to organise. Jesus, democracy is the solution.

  • Rand Paul is right! The CRA '64 does violate first amendment rights. It violates the right of association, which is the right of dissociation. A sale is a contractual exchange of goods/services for money/goods of value. Forcing me to sell to ANYONE is a violation of my right to not associate with them.

Today, such a position would not be advantageous for businessmen. Back then, it would. The titles regarding the government were right. The title regarding businessmen were immoral.

  • Not only are you using ad hominem attacks, you're outright lying.

The Libertarian movement originated in the English Civil War with John Locke, continued with Adam Smith, and the final element was Immanuel Kant. Rand assembled Deontological Libertarianism from these elements. Libertarianism didn't associate with anarchism until the 20th century.

America's first Libertarian movement was the Abolitionist movement.

  • I guess some people just aren't happy unless they are micromanaged by a gov't that plans out every facet of their life. Then they look at people who would rather think and act for themselves and they call them "nutjobs".

To those who prefer to be controlled, there are any number of collectivist "utopias" around the world. I suggest you move there so your life can be complete. Just get out of this country and leave it alone for those of us who cherish the freedoms this country was founded on.
