This is the nozzle of my 4" Gravity dredge that I built for about $20. The whole trick is to fill the pipe completely with water and then lay it at just the right angle to allow the lighter gravels to pass through it and the black sands and gold to stay in the riffles. Make sure you don't let any air in or the whole thing stops or slows down to the point of inefficiency. To clean it just shake the entire contents into a 5 gallon bucket and pan. Google Gravity Dredging for placer gold for more info.

  • I would LOVE to see more of the big O pipe gravity dredge, specifically operation cleanup.

One quick important question for people like me with mostly glacial gold... How is the recovery on fine gold and flour?

Its hard to tell scale from your pic as I don't recognize the coin or whatever the gold is on.

  • I'm sorry but I'm such a newbie at splicing vids together so I really can't tie a cleanup video clip to this vid but some day I'll get it figured out. The fine gold recovery is not good. Anything worth less than 5 cents(20,000flecks/ounce) will probably be lost. The coin in the picture is the same size as the American dime. I tend to prospect creeks that have a shorter distance to the source of the gold and therefore end up with chunkier pieces that are easier to capture.

  • That's the one ;)

  • Please show some more of this!!!

I'd love to see the cleanup and panning of cons.

I imagine the placement of the outlet in terms of feet of drop is very important!

  • I see that I'm not allowed to place a link on these threads, so if you want more information on how this works you will have to Google "gravity dredging for placer gold" to find my geocities site. It gives all the details on how it works, but really the accuracy of the tube placement is not an exact science so there is lots of leeway for adjustment. When done right the tube should have only black sands and gold in it, and usually it will have several pans worth of cons.

  • I have a tool that creates very high vacuum underwater, much higher than any small dredge now being used to look for Placer Gold, I am looking to talk to someone with experience in this area. You can see the tool if you do a search for "Barton abrasive removal tool" where you will see it being used to vacuum fine solids (garnet and expended media) from water filled tanks. email if interested placergolddredge@yahoo.com

  • If anyone can interpret that lol, it would not let me post it not screwed up.

  • If its a geocities site I think I already found it before this vid!

I have to make one of these.
