A trailer for the film, Pictures From A Hiroshima Schoolyard, due to be released in 2012. The film tells the story of an exchange of gifts after WW2 between a church in Washington DC and an elementary school in Hiroshima, Japan. As an expression of thanks for donated school supplies, pictures drawn by the students of a school destroyed by the bomb are sent to All Souls Unitarian Church in 1948. In the 1990s the pictures are rediscovered and in 2010 the newly restored images are taken back to Japan to be reunited with the artists (now in the 70s and 80s) and exhibited in the very building where they were created.
Pictures From A Hiroshima Schoolyard tells a compelling story of reconciliation in the face of horror and affirms the notion that peace is always possible.
