@SantiagoSernaAZ No, The AC 225 amp machine is an SMAW (Stick welder) that uses a shielded electrode. It is the standard "buzzbox" of the industry.

Nice short vid on the history of Lincoln Electric!
To anyone who wants to know more LECO's history, I highly recommend purchasing the "History of Lincoln Electric " from the J.F. Lincoln foundation website. This book covers it well.
The only thing I wish the book had covered in more detail, was Lincoln's relationship with the "BIG THREE WELDING" CO.
Great Vid LECO!

Does the Lincoln Electric 220-Volt AC-225 Stick Welder use gas at all
SantiagoSernaAZ 1 year ago
@SantiagoSernaAZ this welder is capable of stick, or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) welding only. It does not have a gas solenoid inside and cannot be used to perform gas-shielded welding. The stick electrode has a coating that provides the necessary shielding to preserve the integrity of the weld. No gas is required. Make sure you're operating this machine in a well ventilated area.

My welding instructor has been to the Cleveland plant 3 times!
I'm looking forward to using a Lincoln Precision TIG 185 this year.

well you'll have to get up here yourself sometime. 1 1/2 million square feet under one roof, including one of the oldest welding schools in the world.
