Well intended but you can not make Palm Beach out of the Bowery especially in a depression. Population growth in the Town of Babylon stagnated for years and then lost population. Now we might have a few more people but in this economy how many are on public assistance and are the children of single mothers? I lived in Hempstead for almost a decade. Revitalization has been tried again and again. I remember when Hemp High was redone state of the art around 1973 only to be vandalized.

You are crazy Steve Bellone! You are going to charge people for parking at the train station in Wyandanch? The only reason people use the train station at Wyandanch is because there is plenty of parking and no parking fee! The Wyandanch rising program is a negative dream. I'm a resident of this town so don't think I'm prejudiced about this revitalization. To me it's like putting a corsage on a corpse. Fix the schools first! Start with the children
