This is my thought on the "Bug Out Scenario". . . . personally, I'm buggin' IN but the time might come when you absolutely have to leave and never come back. . . . this set up would be one of my options. Fair Use - No copyright violation intended.

  • @verdemanthe1 It's funny you said that-- I just did some trading with a friend and ended up with a brand new schwinn beach cruiser and motor kit. . . . just have to put it together.

  • I look at bicycling as the "last great freedom" in America. I can get anywhere I need to on it. I could make it to New York or Montana if I had to. It would take awhile, but I would get there. They are easy to work on, I can use it as a pack mule for carrying my groceries, double bagged and hanginf off the handlebars. I don't need gas or insurance. I feel the wind on my face, feel the sun, smell the fresh air, feel my heartbeat, see the neighborhood at a different pace. I love them.

  • No way man the best bug out vehicle is a mule! You can pack a ton of crap on them to carry so you'll be nice and cozy...I guess during a shtf I will go to the Zoo and grab an elephant..Natures Tank! Try to stop me and my elephan....Bikes are too much work.

  • just curious, would it be possilbe for you to provide me the link to that statisitcs of compared efficentcy? I had trouble reading it.

  • @flipwiggins You rock! It's nice to see someone else who understands how much freedom a bike can bring. I don't have a car and rely on my bike and bus to get me around. I regularly use my bike to haul groceries. I have a set of canvas saddle bags I need to mount on my bike. If that wont do, there are always bike trailers. A company in Oregon makes trailer that can hold 600 lbs. The Viet Cong used bikes as pack mules. So even just for carrying stuff they work great. Bikes FTW!

  • 1:30 I own that bike.

  • @MessIahmake Good thinking, but most people live in or near cities with out access to horses.

  • Why dont we have bike paths crossing America? We should have them away from car traffic so that when we're breathing hard, we're not taking in exhaust fumes. Like FDR did with the Civilian Conservation Corps, building and maintaining the trails could put thousands of people to work.
