what software do you need? i conected it and the book told me to tart up the music software after connecting. but i dont know what software

I had the same problem and the solution pissed me off.. because it took me so long to find out... ok in order do these steps.

1. turn off your mac
2. plug your keyboard into your mac
3. turn on your keyboard (i put my keyboard into mode pc2)
4. turn on your mac

After you do this and go back to the midi controller menu it should be there!!!
