What I have to deal with. At Starbucks. Everyday.

Update: To clear some things up... I don't work for the company anymore.

Also, thanks a ton to everyone who gets what this is all about =)

It is funny watching how twitchy Starbucks customers get if their drink isn't ready in less than 60 seconds. They nearly go postal if I get my drink before them because all that I ordered was a basic cup of coffee and they ordered a custom ordered Ferrari, or at least in their mind that is what they think they are getting.

I work at Walmart but i can sympathize with this so much, we get our own share of stupid annoying customers there too.

It would be easier on everyone involved if the customers weren't so goddamn stupid and self absorbed, so glad we only have a few people like this at my location

Speaking from a business perspective, a good employee is one who compliantly does his work, and puts up an approachable guise for customers. Rude, irritable employees are burdens unless they are extremely skilled and efficient. There are some unfortunate situations people can be in in which I feel absolute empathy and compassion for, but this isn't one of them. If I put myself in his shoes I would have just sucked it up.

The barista is not the only person involved. The time of the customers in line is being wasted (and the barista is the one who has to deal with those annoyed people) and the product of the company is being thrown away and remade (and those coffee beans aren't grown in the first world). It's called empathy. Don't objectify or disrespect strangers simply because they are paid to sling cheap-ass coffee at you, they might be fired if you complain about them, and you don't expect to see them again.

I completely agree. We should put up with it minor annoyances like this and just do the job right as we are paid to do so. To me, this was a portrayal of a petty first world problem.

I never understood the idea of frustration during a transaction. No matter how stupid the customer is you're still being paid by the hour so it shouldn't matter whether your asking for more information or doing another thousand simple transactions.
