History majors at Hope College have a special opportunity, at most schools only available to graduate students: to do history by working alongside a Hope professor in an archive in the US or abroad.

Hope History majors are able to read and analyze first-hand accounts and create their own historical interpretations, rather than relying on what other historians have written.

This video features research at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. with Professor Jeanne Petit and student Jacob Douma, and at the Organization for Tropical Studies in Costa Rica with Professor Jonathan Hagood and student Stephen Pedersen.
