No,Sufism came from Iran(ancient persia) And is believed to have been influenced by hindu mysticism and perhaps Kabbalah Judiasm. And it is of course,a spiritualist sect of Islam, very beautiful religion.
Depends on how one interprets "Sufism" ... the "modern" Sufism is definitly the product of Persian mysticism ... as a contrast to the strict Arabic law-religion. That'S the reason why most of the famous Sufis - including Rumi - were Persians.
Buraki is right, Sufis use many many different things to reach oneness with Allah and the dervishes use spinning in certain orbital formations to do that. Of course it's not just random spinning, there's dhikr and hand formations have a certain meaning and stuff. Look it up for yourselves. I don't buy into contemporary Sufism, but I'm all for finding new and deeper ways to become closer to Allah. Beautiful video.
What it means "I'm white?" So am I - as an Uzbek. But I'm muslim though non-practising... Anyway, roots of sufism lie in Christianity...So first sufis were Christians...
