Three Great finds. Vocalion and Division of the Aeolian Company. A reproduceing Player piano Meaning a Player piano that knows how play dymanics, The Ben Selvin Orchestra and Irving Kaufman. All were big players in the 1920's and it's iroonic that a player piano company was promoting a medium that along with radio would kill the Player piano Industry. So as always leave comments bith happy and sad below and enjoy.

  • I have an AEOLIAN COMPANY 1916 record that I would also like to upload and even more so, learn how to properly clean it. I am in need of someone to guide me in this matter. I look forward to your response.

  • What a voice!

This man sang like a very proud man! You have to be proud to sing like this!

You can tell that he liked these songs! (Or at least, he didn't seem to hate having to record them like some other artists did)

  • @Mr1920s Lovely, lively tune. There's a reference to an Aeolian Piano Company at 360 Fifth Avenue in New York City. They did make Vocalian Records and so possibly also on the Aeolian label, too. Quite a history! It's on the web. There was a Aeolian concert hall also. I recall going by this building. And there's a jewelry store now at the storefront of the Aeolian piano company. They started out making pianos and piano rolls. Fascinating!

  • I have this on a Victor Label. I wonder which is older. Mine is sung by Aileen Stanley and Billy Murray. Interesting to research. I have heaps of Vocalians, but not this version. Nice!

  • Excellent.

  • Oh, I love this!

  • Zef, IIRC A-V also manufactured pipe organs. I seem to recall they started making talking machines first, then decided to issue their own records.

    Regards, J.

  • Zef, Always love a Kaufman tune! Thanks. 'Red Records Are Best' ;-)

    YF, J.
