Did the U.S. decline, or did other countries catch up? China can develop computers, India can build cars and Japan can build robots. They can also do it cheaper because their labor is so cheap. Think $20 per day rather than $20 per hour or more. The U.S. citizens want a high standard of living and that costs money, more than what people can afford or are willing to spend. That's why there is all this government and personnel debt.
