My favorite singer/songwriter way back in my high school days. This song is my favorite!

Wow! She must have smoked a helluva lot between 1972 and 1974, as she sounds wayyy more youthful here than the '74 live clip of this song.

Forgot about this exeptional Joni...tossin' around her "latest golden egg", such brilliance, and tenderness should never remain stuck in the past for too long...

There's something to her live performances. You can really hear the vulnerability. I think when she went in to record it, she wanted it to sound stronger than blue so there was an attempt to take herself out and let the music speak to the people. But when she's infront of the audience like this, it just pours out so beautifully and you feel as if you're right there as she's writing it. It's truly marvelous. Five stars for sure.

"Just when you start getting that taste for worship,
They start bringing out the hammers and the boards and the nails."
