Violinist Andrea Gajic performing After the Tryst by James MacMillan, accompanied by fellow Research Ensemble Player, pianist ~ Lauryna Sableviciute.

'After the Tryst' is a development on the musical setting of William Soutar's love poem 'The Tryst' that MacMillan wrote in 1984. In the original setting MacMillan used the musical style of an old Scottish ballad as a vehicle for Soutar's poem. In 'After the Tryst' he elongates and ornaments the original melody into an expressive miniature for violin with piano accompaniment.
