  • If only I had been among the priveledged to have heard these singers first hand.Herman and Fritz make superb duets as well as magical solos.

    Words fail.

To my ear,his diction is faultless.

Thankyou to all who share these.

  • My mother used to sing this song in the evening. I have sung it to my children and to my grandchildren.Thank you Brahms. I wish I could sing like Hermann Prey.

  • Das ist so traumhaft schön, alle Worte versagen....

    Man kann sich nur bedanken.

  • traumhaft !!!!!

  • Morgen früh, wenn Gott will...

  • In Germany Prey was one of the most popular classical singers in the 70ths. He often was invited to tv shows. To young people, me included, he was just this guy singing boring popular balads on tv . How stupid we were!

When I heard him live many years later, he totally enchanted me. I sat in the last row of a concert hall with more than 2000 people. Even the most gentle piano was the purest and clearest sound you can imagine and was deeply moving.

    Thank you for your recommendations!

  • You're really lucky that you got to hear him in a concert. What's it like to hear him live? I love his performance as Figaro. Get the DVD's of him in Le Nozze di Figaro and Il Barbiere di Siviglia. He's amazing!

  • Hermann Prey's diction was outstanding, indeed. I was so very lucky to hear him in a concert with ballads. He was in his sixties, then, and died few years later. I have never heard a more accomplished singer and am very gratefull to have listened to his voice.

  • Lovely and peaceful! Thank you Hermann!

Is it just me, or is his diction really clear? He pronounces everything very clearly!
