OMG, I had no idea anyone loved this ending as much as I do! I cried so hard the first time I saw it, & I'm not a crier! it's so poignant, thank you so much for posting this! Something about that kid chasing that truck just gets to me. What a great movie. Thanks again!

Oh, & I also love the part where they're in that house, & Savannah wakes up from a bad dream, & Alvie is holding her, & that song is playing. It's so ironic to see how gentle & sweet & tender he is with her, while outside, these guys are all climbing all over the house with guns, ready to shoot him. Same out by the creek, when he finds Savannah with the puppy!

Exactly how I feel! Glad to find others who were affected by this the way I was. I own this movie on DVD, & the first time I saw it was when I was in 4th grade, when it was out in the theater, & every time I've watched it I've bawled at the end. SO good, & it impresses me that Mark Miller, who played Alvie, is the one who wrote the movie. He named Savannah after his daughter. And yes, SO sad about the actress who played Savannah.

"Love Will Never Be The Same Again" it was written specifically for this movie.

what is the song at the end.

Yep. I loved those two. They had hard lives and good hearts in the end. The dad was just a spoiled self-centered jerk.

I think it's supposed to show that he would have liked his family to have stopped for him. And so, in a way, because Savannah's family (based mainly on the mother) came for her, he kind some sembalance of family restored in his heart. Well, actually, it was probably more of the fact that he found a familial love with Savannah and so he was complete. So in his heart, he was okay again. I don't know I just really hated that they had to go back to jail. That really sucked!
This is probably the saddest movie I have ever seen in my entire life. To this day. - Jason

I know! And then it's worse because we know that Bridgette is gone. So sad!
