Failed WD hard drive spins up

Just a short HD filler while I edit and film some "real" videos.

This Western Digital Caviar 11200 was mechanically fine, but it had an electronic problem that caused it not to be detected by a computer at all. So, I opened it up and played around with it until exposure to the air caused it to fail mechanically as well.

Fun fact: The hard drive, as you see it running here, was running off batteries! I had a 12V NiMH hooked up to the 12V side and four AAs hooked up to the 5V side. A little trick I started doing a while back. I have plans in the future to buy a 3.5" hard drive enclosure that runs on 12V, so I can convert it to run on batteries and be portable.
