  • Wonderful find! Thanks for posting this rare disc. If you have more I'd love to hear them.

    Greetings from W.Germany

  • You're welcome! Merry Christmas!

  • I posted a few more!

  • 4870 Hannover Lane appears to now be Hannover Ave just off of Gravois just a bit past the River Des Peres (63123). That is a rather nice find BTW.

  • That's an error on my part, I later discovered it says Hannover Ave. on the label also (it was hard to read). Thanks for your comment!

  • This is neat and it plays OUTWARD... not inward...

  • Great find, it's like he's right here in the room and he's way more candid than you get from the 40's Hollywood version. This kid wants to live! I hope he did.

  • @mmilovan You sound like someone who can direct me to where I can finally see a picture of one of these 'recorders' , I found a Audiodisc of a bluegrass/country group from way back. I'm in Ohio so it's not far off from where this was recorded. Many of the coal miners of Kentucky and WV came up here when the mines were closing, a great majority of the West Side Columbus is populated with children and grandchildren of these folks. This record could have been made up here...just posted it.

  • inside out

  • The interviewer has a cool voice, how come no one talks like this anymore :(

  • I looked up 4870 Hanover Ave. - St. Louis, MO on Google Maps and found his house! When I tried to link it here though, I get an error message. Maybe we can't post links? Anyway, it's a small white house. If you look it up yourself, move up and down the street a bit and zoom in on the addresses to find it. Typing the address in Search took me to a house across the street, kitty-corner from 4870.

  • I love this type of stuff.

Many thanks to you for posting this video.

  • Actually, it is not some kind of a plastic, it is nitrate - celluloid/lacquer (rarely acetate celluloid) as cover for aluminum core on these instantaneous discs. This lacquer surface was place where grooves were to be engraved.

  • He was in the 3rd marine division. Bouganville, guam and then iwo jima. My father was in the 3rd. Where in the world did you find that album?

  • How do you make it play backwards?

Why would they record it backwards (inner to outer) that way?
