@Sinfoniette Cliburn's teacher was Russian

Not only Russians; Van Cliburn put his own (and famous) stamp on it. Seems to me that every piano virtuoso wants to put his own "stamp" on it...

Another marble from 'Treasure Island'!

Definitely No Nonsense. Huge. Wish I could've heard him....Live

Great, tight, compelling piano playing. Lyrical but no nonsense. Brings out great lines, we can hear every note; I love this guy! (He looks like a jolly fellow, too - but who knows?) Love those glissandi on position changes in the strings, too... sounds more like 1920 than 1950! Great post... a revelation!

Timezones. It was past midnight when I found Truecrypt uploading it... I must have been lucky to find it right before I slept.

it's a lullaby can't you tell????
Marvelous performance! I believe it is the goal of each Russian pianist to put a personal stamp on this concerto and Ginzburg meets that standard! Much well-placed rubato accents the drama of the music.
Do you know what orchestra this is?

This is State Symphony - the main orchestra in the former USSR.
