One of my favorite songs

(Clarke / Hicks / Nash)
We met on the shore of a lemonade lake.
Weeping willows looked down where we lay.
Orange blossoms I smell in your hair.
Butterfly, flutter by, butterfly by.

Waterfalls send your ripples to us
Here on the shore of the lemonade lake.
Pond lilies play hide and seek with the fish.
Rabbit run, run rabbit, rabbit run by.

Roaring mountain is standing close by,
Covered with snowdrops and glistening with dew.
I hear the sound of a small hummingbird.
I took your hand and I waltzed off with you.

Come to the top of the mountain with me.
Jump on a cloud and we'll float to and fro.
Seeing the countryside covered with grass
And the top of the mountain with candy-floss and snow.

Butterfly lazily drinking the sun,
Lavishly sprinkled and painted with gold.
Here in the land of the mist and the lake,
Me and my true love will never grow old.

  • This song is incredibly beautiful. One of Graham's best.

  • A very haunting song, lyrics similar to "Lucy in the sky with diamonds"

Thanks for the posting, pity the photo has Terry Sylvester on it not Graham Nash.

  • Somebody tell Graham Nash to start playing this song again for crying out loud.....

  • @shinybald36 Michael Kamen, also known for working with Dylan, Pink Floyd, Queen, soundtracks for die hard, lethal weapon, highlander, and such.

  • I love this. Thanks for posting! Just heard this for the first time yesterday. Graham should put this into the C&N shows.

  • such a amazing song so dam good live

  • THIS SONG I CANT FORGET. BOUGHT THE ALBUM IN 1967. REMEMBER ALL THE WORDS

  • would love to hear it without vocals, anybody know who scored the strings?

  • The only Hollie to appear on the song does not appear in the only photo shown. Weird? No, just a big Fail.

  • What is Sylvester doing in the photo? Not a bad song, not great, glad it is short. I like the melody, but although imagy, thought the lyrics could have been better.

  • Gorgeous voice...pre CS&N

  • graham nash is not in the pic,?
