A look at my newly build overflow for my 80gal temperate reef tank. Still need to mount the overflow and return permanently. Seem to work great except I now wish I used larger tubing. My return pump has a lot of unused power that I had hoped to use for circulation. Me sad.

  • @MarcuxRyan pvc cement is fine once dry. I just happend to have a tube of silicone. Plus it would let me pull it apart if I needed too.

  • one more thing I noticed you are using a silicone sealant.. is it because "commercial solvent cements" are not safe for your fish?

  • @MarcuxRyan that is 3/4" but I would really suggest bigger. I have a newer on that is 1 1/4" and still could use more flow to deal with my return pump.

  • Hi.. What is the size of the pvc pipe you used? thanks

  • @xKELxPAYNE hehehe I have moved return close to the surface so that in the event of a power outage it can only drain to that level. Who needs a flood!?

    thnks

  • what happens when the power go off for a bit then turns on? he he he been there done that ... good luck.
