I heard that the drinking too much was about Krist, but I don't remember where I read that so I don't know how credible of a source that is. I think that makes since. I know he wrote this song while living in the same one room apartment with Kurt, right after joining the band, and I suppose it would make sense to write about both of the band members, not just Kurt. As much as he liked Kurt, I don't think he ever had a facination about him, enough so to write a full song about him before he died
