I think that many people who've reacted on this video clearly have no idea what the policies of Mrs. Thatcher have meant to the British economy. The freedom of choice, true liberty, lower taxes and free markets, this is what has brougt prosperity to all of human kind. Britain was an example for the whole world during the 80's. And yes she did have the support of the nation, as millions of Britons have re-elected her not once, but twice(!). Selfreliance is what we believe in, not selfpity!

@autofreak7Without NS oil the UK is F*cked and the Torys realized this and it saved the UK from bankrupting the nation. The Torys biggest mistake was treating Scotland like a test dummies for new taxes and Industry shut downs and now the huge fear of Scotland leaving the UK has had to bring out huge amounts of money to begin a propaganda campaign since the discovery of NS oil against Nationalism in Scotland. Irony is that its Scottish money funding it. Maggie tried and failed to destroy Scotland

@TheComradeRoss I do believe that the revenues of NS oil should have been kept in a trust fund. While the yearly returns of this fund could have been used to subsidize current expenditures, the accrued capital shouldn't have been. This is of course a mistake made by many other governments as well. About the coal mines: they closed down everywhere in West Europe, not only Scotland. It was only more pronounced because Scld was so successful in heavy industry and had no incentive to diversify

@autofreak7 My friend the way to help a recession isn't by closing down all of Scotland industry and closing down all our coal mines so that she could buy in coal from Poland and other nations. She is the one who has made the UK dependent on foreign industry.. That was Until Scottish north sea oil was discovered. Since then all Westminster parties have treated Scotland like a shoe box, Treated us with no respect and now the same parties live in fear that Scotland will go for independence.

@TheComradeRoss I will not deny that Scotland was one of the harder hit areas of the UK (from what I've heard, I'm too young to remember), but you must realize that the early 80's was a turbulent economic age. Just like now, the world was in the grip of a major recession so to blame her for everything that went wrong is over the mark. I think she did care, but was unable to help at the time. All of this was of course shamelessly exploited by the Labour party which treats the Scottish like fools

Thatcher said "there is no such thing as society, only individualism" , maybe thats the kind of "no community, no care for others" attitude, also now taken up by the media, that influenced those people who destroyed london with rioting earlier this month?.... people who grew up in a world of "dog eat dog", "fend for yourself", "rich bankers screwing everyone", me me me culture..... that this lady created....

@autofreak7 Although I agree with you 100%, Thatcher helped change and rebuild this country for the better, she raised taxes for the most part.
