As was done with Java and Linux, IBM is increasing its investment on a new technology: cloud computing. Just like for the two previous technologies mentioned, this maybe a sign of significant growth and maturity for cloud computing. Part of this new investment strategy includes a brand new division reporting directly to IBMs CEO. The man leading the development and strategy of this division is none other than Dr. Kristof Klockner. I caught up with Dr. Klockner in an phone interview where we discussed IBMs new division, his role, the benefits of cloud computing to enterprises (technology, social, and financial benefits), as well as the importance of conferences such as OOPSLA in helping nurture and grow new technologies such as the cloud, as was done in previous OOPSLAs for ideas and technologies like Agile and Eclipse.
