Mid Round House Kick Counter
Situation/ Description
The attacker launches a round house kick towards your rib cage on the side of your body.
Situational Awareness:
*If you are standing far away from the attacker dodge the attack by jumping backwards, and quickly counter.
*If the kick is lower than your waste, simply raise your leg blocking the kick with your shin, guarding your knee joint and groin.
Step 1: It isn't practical to assume when a kick will be thrown, and so as you see the attacker's leg go up and come towards you, quickly step forward, closing the maximum distance.
Step 2: When his leg impacts with your rib cage, allow your body to move sideways with the momentum of the kick. Simultaneously, grab his kicking leg using your whole arm (you should be holding it just below his knee cap.)
*If the leg is caught at the ankle proceed with ankle takedown, by grabbing your opponent's heel with one hand, with the other grabbing the sole of his foot and twisting it in an outward rotation.
Step 3: In order to take away the attacker's stability, quickly strike the attacker's face on any of the basic facial pressure points.
Step 4: To take down your opponent, you must move your leg (parallel to your opponent's only grounded leg) past your opponent's leg. Then bring it back striking the back of his leg with the heel of your foot. At the same time push hard on one of the facial pressure points. This will throw the attacker to the floor both violently and effectively.
Step 5: Once the attacker is on the floor, you can either pin him down, or run for help. Remember this move is for defensive purposes only. Do not try this unless you're properly trained, or have proper supervision.
