i cant believe that a fail-violinist that couldnt stand not being able to reach this came in this video and actually disliked .

@loosetea Er I didn't know there were six strings on a violon. Mine has got 4 one. Is this normal? :)

@giulianobevisangue YES YES YES I stand corrected! I am humiliated at my typo; the vioin having "6" strings instead of, of course, 4. BUt I'm sure those more interested in my sincere appreciation of Szeryng could care less if I'd given the violin 10 strings....

@loosetea Four strings, actually :)

who disliked this video?!

I agree with you,but just one thing:the violin has 4 strings not .

Sorry to cut in, but as far as good recordings of Bach go, Lara St.John's on Magnatune are particularly good. Hers are very smooth and fluid, and some of them approach some of Szeryng's. Her interpretations are different than his, but I like them. Kriztof Barati has done a very nice Ciaccona as well. As far as contemporary violinists go, I like Midori. She is technically amazaing as well as emotionally compelling.

Yes, of course... I've been consulting a great deal with a guitarist friend and helping her find transcriptions of Bach for the guitar; so had that instrument on my mind! Thanks for your gentle correction. Are you also a Szeryng fan? If so, who among contemporary violinists do you find appealing, perhaps in some ways comparable to Szeryng, or in their own way, particularly gifted?
Ahh... the beauty of the impossible. =)
