Tim Russert always played devils advocate. That's why he was always was the toughest interview in Washington. And with the slide of the media today, we need another Tim. So please stop whining that he tried to make Ron look bad. That is how he interviews everyone.

"but we'd still have slavery." LOL. that's the way these guys think... amazing.

income tax is constitutional via 16, but i hate that one lol

Selling slaves never worked. We tried it several times. The southerners had a class system where someone would not even be accepted to run in a political race unless they held 10 or 20 slaves (and that sort of thing was officially written into their Constitution). Andrew Johnson hated that type of class system.
If you take the European way out, you're still thinking of the black people like property. It came back to bite the British when they were dealing with Africa.

They were forceful, but not effective. Several presidents before Lincoln passed the problem along to the next guy, and Lincoln himself declared that he would not retaliate unless they used military force on the remaining bases.
Paul got nailed at this point of the program. My only major beef about Ron Paul is his habit of talking about Europe, and I don't want America to become like New Amsterdam.
Ron Paul is still good though, so I have no problem overlooking a few of his personal beliefs.

I think he is trying to be objective, which I fully support in his attempt and even think he did a good job, especially since the only ones who were objective towards paul were the neo-cons who feared that he'd convert interventionist conservatives to libertarianism

Some Presidents before then set the stage for the civil war. One of those was Andrew Jackson who was forceful with South Carolina nullification. A principle early in our nation was that if a state disagreed with a spending measure, they could reject and not accept money for programs. Similar to many governors today who rejected stimulus money. In this case, they opposed measures like the "Tariff of Abominations of 1828." Other Presidents like Buchanan were forceful with southern states.

fat t is right the states were promised that they could run themselves, not be ruled by washington. if this ever happened they were allowed to drop out of the union. theres many reasons for the civil war, 1 big 1 was we had many presidents b4 lincoln who avoided the issue, some who tried to by them time and others who were pro slavery. it fed the fire and whne it became big enough it exploded, the south elected their own president and refused to listen to the gov so i doubt they would sell slavs

I'm sorry the man is dead, but glad the US
public isn't exposed to such a radical shill
for the neocon party. What an asshole !!

Tim's agenda here was to attempt to discredit Ron Paul, nothing else and he didn't do a very good job at it. No person is perfect and you can find something on everyone. If you think about everything that you have ever done and someone pointed it out and distorted it, you would look terrible. Still, Tim just couldn't get the job done. It frustrates me that people just can't see through the Gov. actions. They take a inch then go after a mile. Our Republic is in serious trouble.
No one has any right to treat you like that Ron Paul. Stupid accusative thrown at you, yet you still manage to speak the truth clearly and honestly. The mainstream is totally unfair; bring up statements from 1988, not letting you speak, and trying you make you look bad. Thanks for sticking it through Ron Paul.
