This is the same as what I have seen in self teaching books. But, I had picked up a free pattern with yarn and there was a pretty irish shawl on the back. In the instructions it stated to yo over twice. I never figured that pattern out and ended up throwing the free pattern away and using the yarn for another project. I am still not sure what yo twice means or how to perform this stitch.
I just got a great stocking hat pattern from knittingpatternoftheday (.) com and Grandma Nutt is adorable!

OK....so a yarn over is a way of INCREASING so that the next row will have an extra stitch (or number of stitches)......
I'm a BEGINNER even though I've crocheted for a long time.
I AM SO STOKED TO MAKE A SWEATER!
