The enormous FRAM icebreaker ship once ploughed its way through the Arctic ice. It's now dry-docked near Oslo in Norway, with a small museum built around it.

  • wrong. It was not an icebreaker, but constructed with a specially designed hull, that was rounded, like a bowl, so under great pressure from competing flows she would be squeezed and rise upward, out of the water and on to the ice, rather that be crushed, like the unfortunate Jeanette was some 50 years earlier. She was built to intentionally be frozen into the arctic ice in an attempt to drift accross the north pole. Nansen and Johansonn completed a heroic march and kayak sail home from the ice.
