As a volunteer Firefighter/EMT I want to try and show everyone what we go through in a day without being paid or so much as a thank you. Most of these pictures have myself in them or were taken by myself. The video portions were of a response to one of our local nursing homes for an unknown emergency. Us volunteers are willing to drop everything on a dime and respond to your emergency. Think about that the next time a volunteer ambulance or fire company comes to help you and you complain because we took so long. Most people do not even realize we volunteer and just take us for granted. We go through hundreds of hours of training and we wouldn't be able to do what we do without the support of our family and friends. People sometimes call us heroes but we are not. We simply do what must be done and we enjoy doing what we do as hard as it can be at times emotionally and physically. Volunteers are a dying breed and we need as much help as we can get. I ask you please see what you can do to help, the smallest of things can mean the world of difference to a volunteer, even just sending a thank you card. I send a huge thank you to all my fellow volunteers in the world and to the family and supporters of those brave souls.

  • @2010025 same here man

  • You want a dying breed, try female volunteer firefighters. In the county that I live in there are only 30. I have volunteered with my husband for 9 years. I am 1 of 2 female firefighters on our department.

  • @columbusfire425 ha tht last sentence was awesome. i will never stop doin this. its not something you do its something you are. its addicting. i love it. bein a ff is the biggest comradere ive ever been in. its like another family tht knows you better than anyone else

  • @smallpaul1995 Don't let them get ya down, if you can, expose them to the fire dept, try and get them involved, there is only one true way to understand what firefighting is all about, and that is to be a firefighter. If they don't respect you for what you do, that just goes to show how ignorant they are. Just whatever you do, be professional, don't loose your cool with them, and keep gettin' on the rig when the alarm sounds.
