Quick DIY on how to change the light in the gear selector surround on a Toyota Aurion Sportivo, it should be the same process for the whole Aurion range and may work on similar camry models, there's also a light which lights up the P R N D S +/- This can be done in the exact same way, I am yet to change that...

Step 1... With the Center console open, pull upwards on the rear of the center section
Step 2... Then pull the surroundings off the front on either side of the climate control
Step 3... Put the car into Neutral
Step 4... Unlock the light socket, just twist counter-clockwise and pull out
Step 5... Remove globe, a pair of pliers works
Step 6... Replace with LED

The bulbs used are T5 white leds

I also changed the light in the ashtray which was done at the same time, with the same process, that light is located between the cigarette lighter and the ashtray itself

  • What a POS car.

  • @Demonichellfighter So you clicked on a DIY video for a car you don't own or like? ಠ_ಠ

  • @dazzamate42 oh ok thanks. T5 bulbs right? Ill remember that. Oh not everythings easy to replace...like the parkers in aurions... gotta get in from under the wheel arches!

I bought led parkers off ebay and never put em in. Put them in my laser instead lol.

But this transmission lighting looks simple enough, i may get around to it.

Are you a member on TOCAU by any chance? If so whats ur name on there. Im squish , have a blue sportivo aswell :) best colour!

  • @MrSquishan Hey mate, yeah I'm a member of TOCAU (Zeinheiger)... I replaced the parkers with white LED's a while back, it's a prick of a job... There's a second light in the transmission area that lights up the P, R, N, D, S... I had blue in there, then I changed to white, looks great, that bulb is easy to find as well, you'll see it when you pry open the cover, I have a thread in members cars with a few bits and pieces i've changed

  • So no screwdrivers required? And where did u get the bulb from?

  • @MrSquishan No screwdrivers needed, Toyota make changing things quite easy, I bought a bulk pack of LED bulbs off ebay, they are T5 bulbs and can be used for a few applications within the car, dash bulbs, keylight bulbs and I think even the electric window buttons have them, which I have yet to do
