Hemp - Popular Mechanics called it the "the billion dollar crop," that could "produce more than 25,000 products, ranging from dynamite to Cellophane." Jefferson and Washington both grew hemp and it was one of the first crops that Champlain planted at Port Royal. What happened?

'Reefer Madness!' Hemp was outlawed in Canada and the US largely because of a US propaganda campaign led by Lamont Dupont and William Randolph Hearst. They actively tried to discredit hemp production by confusing it with marijuana. Why? They stood to lose billions of dollars if hemp became widely used.

As of March 1998 -- under Health Canada's strict science-based regulations -- it became legal to grow hemp commercially in Canada again.

Industrial hemp could be used to create everything from cement and fiberboard to paper and fuel. Hemp could relieve pressure on forests and help protect wildlife. With plant heights reaching 15' or more, hemp biomass captures high amounts of carbon from the atmosphere and could even become a factor in addressing issues of planetary climate change though carbon sequestration.
Whether its rope, paper, or a t-shirt - we can do almost anything with Hemp... except smoke it.

We lose when we don't move fast enough toward great products and great technology. Of course all this needs the infrastructure. The infrastructure will not be in place unless we produce the resource: industrial hemp!!!

@deimoscrazy Ya, to bad the guy didn't go into all the other uses for hemp, as a food its top of the line, better then anything out there, hemp turned into food is the best food, most healthy stuff you will ever put in your mouth, vitamins minerals, essential oils, its incredible stuff.
