The main difference is Smite is still in beta/active development. Tribes has been out for well over a year, and hasn't gotten a meaningful update for over 2 months, with the previous one another 2 months or so before that.

Still. If I could get my gold back... I would've bought it for the sake of my teams server... and the one or two skins i actually don't have.

I bought the Ultimate God Pack for Smite and I got my 100k+ favor back. I was assuming this deal would be as good as that one.

we could assume it's UT3's take on a flag (ie. A FLaG). that powers the teams mobile respawners. Capturing a flag overloads it, which weakens the power of the respawner.

I know Tribes Lore explains it, but can't remember how. (Aside from the Wildezones time of peace where they all gather and fight for the glory of their clan in annual events... like the olympics, but with discs and shazbot.)

No. It just unlocks whatever you haven't unlocked. It's primarily designed to get new players/players who quit early back into the game. If it did, that would be far too good a deal. I'd be able to rent servers for around a year or so with the gold from a refund.
