Composting is a great way to begin building the nutrients in your soil. Get to know the growing season for your area. Self watering containers work great especially if starting out.

I feel the same - I have done a lot of research - google permaculture - it is much easier to let nature do the work for you - Mulch and compost and supposedly can forget tilling ( which is hard work) also check out heirloom seeds
