Today, join us here at Long Lane Honey Bee Farm as we show you how we graft queens. It's early now, and in this video I'll show you how we can raise a few queens even though it's still too early to raise queens the way we do in late spring and summer.

  • How did this configuration work out ? I'm surprised to see it on here I'm thinking of doing the same with 3 sections, 3 4 and 3 frames in 1 bottom box with a queen'd cluster in center 4 and a queen cell frame on both of the outsides using two cut down plastic excluders as it will fit in sawn grooves and still allow 10 frames. I'm worried the 3 holes may create a little too much draft , What is your thinking on this ? tooctte@netwitz.net

  • Your voice explaing the process is very low while your background noise or music is rather high. Reduce your background music/noise and record at a heigher level pleae.

  • I like your video we teach along the same lines.we need more queen producers.

    Don

  • @SaphireDisc You dont have to take out honey, but you should still check on the bees to ensure health since they can get varroa mites and other bugs will steel their honey, if they dont have food for winter they will die

  • Can you just have a honey bee hive as a conversation piece or as a novelty item or do yo need to really clean out all the honey and a bunch of stuff?

  • Thank you for your good video. I love youtube there has never been a better tool for education. Everyone should make a video about everything and share it for free.

  • @setyouback Pretty obvious, Google some pictures, you will see. The queen is quite a bit larger, with a much longer abdomen. Her abdomen is often lighter in color or 'different' in color. Again, look at some pictures and it will be obvious. Of course, shes never as easy to find in real time as she is in pictures.

  • What other ways can u tell an unmarked queen bee from a worker bee, besides size?

  • finnaly something in english not the "honorable doctor shaviramusadterroristjdis o what ever tey call him
