Humpbacks AND Blue Whales lunge feeding close to the boat in a phenomenal all day Whale Watching trip in the Santa Barbara channel with the American Cetacean Society aboard the Condor Express 8/1/09.

  • ive seen a great white swimming around a mother and calf humpback, good thing the mother chased it away, kind of......

  • @BerZerker97 - That would be an interesting site. Glad Mom chased it away! There was a picture out of Dana Point early in the Gray Whale season of a Gray with a BIG chunk out of it's tail fluke that was believed to be from a Great White.

  • @BerZerker97 - yes... very! Though they do see Humpbacks and Blues in the same area in the channel more frequently lately (like the last few years) to see them lunge feeding so close together is amazing. Even to see them surface feeding like that really.... doesn't happen often.
