Some suspected Kate's motives with the property. Regardless, she was unable to get it going again. This entire property and its key players have been one giant soap opera. Interesting reading if you have time. It's reported that the rivival of the resort will be near impossible: some lifts and buildings, in addition to the water system for snowmaking are beyond repair and would require razing. It's sad, this was a fun, family destination at one time.

While serving his time, Remo's Sugar Loaf business and property remained closed and fell back into the hands of its creditors (Huntington Bank was one, and a shell corp believed to be owned by Remo's wife was another). Kate Wickstrom came along and "purchased" the property in '05. (the purchase may have been on a land-contract, with Remo holding the mortgage). Kate was affiliated with Narconon (the retarded son of Scientology).

A little update on the history of "The Loaf". It closed for skiing in 2000 under a storm of mismanagement and unfavorable weather. The owners at that time lost their liquor license, futher denting their profits. Once they tried to reopen (in2001), the lifts either failed inspection or failed to be inspected, so they were not given approval by the state to operate. The owner at the time, Remo Polseli, was then charged with felony tax evasion in connection to another business.

The Ski Resort is Sugar Loaf , It use to be a Prosperous area with the Heavy Winters we have here and the Lake Effect Snows it was a great place to Ski in Maple City , It was Operational until about 2002 when an Elevator Accident crushed one of the Maitenence workers , the Wife Brought Suit and won thus Bankrupting the Holding CO. , It was sold to Kate Wickstrom in Hopes of reopening but we had 3 years of Mild Winters and now she is trying to sell it . she had hoped to put in a Rehab Center .
