Tesla also hopes that the closer relationship with a large car-maker will help them put out the Model S electric sedan more expediently.  If that is successful it could make electric automobiles a reality in the U.S. consumer market.

I agree with this. Tesla needs that DOE loan, so they can hire Americans.

Where are your sources for the subsidizing of Japanese and German cars?  That is BS. Why are our tax dollars subsidizing non-American cars?
