i assume you read Paul Myers' book where Todd talks about how he records his vocal tracks - right on the spot, dubbing in the different harmonies as he goes along with no advance preparation. thinking about that while i listen to this, i'm in awe, in case i wasn't already

Slightly slower than the final album version? Lead vocal track sounds pretty much the same, with some more intricate embellishments on the background vocals. Also the synth lead-in to the spoken part at 3:14 comes in earlier.

@libratem Todd used to play with speeding or slowing recordings down when the tempo's weren't right, or if he wanted to segue into another song that had a slightly different key. Other tunes he's done that to are The very last time and Time Heals. I don't like the backing vocals on this version, they were neat to hear but I'm glad he chose to record them differently
