Performed on private off-road track

Camera on ScanGauge II unit to show exact numbers,
MPH, RPM, TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and WT (Water Temp).

Started from low speed then got up to low 80's in 3rd gear with 3500 stall torque converter locked. Once I got the ok I turned the O/D (4th gear) on at about 84mph and proceeded with the run. Got to 95 mph and increased the throttle for it to down shift into 3rd until 125mph when I let it shift back into 4th gear (O/D) and got to 128 mph as I came up on a hill on part of the track to help slow down. Car also has stock 3.55 rear gears with larger rear tire for an effective rear gear ratio of 3.50.

  • I love that sound you got coming out of the double overhead cam 4.6. It sounds like a Nextel Cup car when they're on the pace lap before the race.

  • Thanks, yeah I love the sound also and it's makes people do a double take cause they think it has the 2v sohc engine. Had Flowmaster Super 40's on it during this video but have been changed to Aero Turbine AT2525 mufflers, world of difference and sounds a lot better.

  • Hey, I came across your video again and I tried to get some speed runs with my '03 CVPI. Turns out you can get almost the same sound as this out of the 4.6 2V also. I have videos of it, and I was surprised by the fact it came out so similar.

  • Having Flowmasters helps a lot since they can make just about any Ford V8 sound like a Mustang lol. I got rid of the Super 40's, the Aero Turbines AT2525 give it that Terminator Cobra sound just a little bit but it still has it's own sound which is nice. I'll get some updated videos once I get my 4.10 gears in next month.

  • Do they come modded when you buy them or do you always have to do it yourself?

  • You'd have to mod them yourself. Might get lucky and find one that has already been modded from the original owner.

  • I actually have a pair of Super 44's on my Crown Vic. Most of the sound is taken off by the 4 cats but you can almost duplicate it with the 2V SOHC if you try. (I know in the winter when my car's idling, it has some badass sound to it when the RPM's are up.)

On the other hand, the new 3V is a totally different beast...a lot more hot rod sound to it.

  • Thanks.

I bought mine off of eBay for I think $160. It's def. a nice thing to have. I'm amazed by watching the IA (Intake Temp) gauge feature and actually how much hot air my (supposed) cold air intake draws in.

  • so how much did the ScanGauge II run you good run man keep it up
