http://www.salciampa.com - Here's a video showing you how I replaced my crashed iPod Video hard drive.

Make sure the hard drive leads line up correctly with the hard drive connector. This was my mistake the first time. Take your time and be calm when inserting the leads into the hard drive.

  • @tlbsqueak your right in everything you say don't follow this clown people he does not have a clue or the right tools for the job look at other videos before attempting the change.

  • @kevinjohnkinsey i may have not had the right tools, but I certainly knew what I was doing, that ipod is still working to this day...so suck on it friend

  • It's really not hard to replace anything on the ipod, it's just annoying dealing with the cables and those blue things and fitting it back into place. Since a hard drive is so cheap in comparison to a new ipod, it's worth it.

  • @JeffCollins05 very true, the ribbon cable connectors are TINY!!

  • Get a hammer and bash the shit out of that piece of garbage and get a touch.

  • @cjrazzle got an iphone, is that okay? :P

  • @wizkid5059 the iPod hard drive uses a ZIF connection. If the hard drive for the dell DJ has the same connection then you shouldn't have any problems.

  • Can I use the HDD that my dad ordered for his Dell DJ? It's 20GB, and it is brand new. While attempting to install it in his Dell DJ, he broke the scroll barrel and rendered it useless. Fast Forwars 2 months. I got a 30 GB Sad iPod Video off eBay. A new HDD will cost $80. Can I just use dad's?

  • What a ham-fisted attempt at ipod work. If anyone handles their ipod innards like this, expect it to sad-face every time. Those hard-drives are delicate outside of their protective case, plus using anything metal to open the case screws the finish.

    1. Always use a guitar pick [medium] to prise it open.

    2. Only hold the HD by its edges. If you squeeze it on the flat sides, you will bend the arm, or the platter.

    3. Peel the foam off with a razor and re-apply carefully with double sided tape.

  • USE A GUITAR PICK TO OPEN THE IPOD!!! simple solution to a simple problem..

  • @reneduna123 legit?

  • well done my ipod is fucked
