  • isnt learning from others who think independently and as freethinkers also following as well? this sounds like bs.

  • @Xziz10ths This ain't gospel. It's for you to figure out.

  • Great upload. Where is this from?

  • The lecture is titled "Vertigo at History's Edge" and was recorded at the Open Center in NYC in April of 1994. See the link(podcast) in the info section.

  • what does mcluhan mean when he coined the phrase ' the medium is the message'?? your reply would surely help my understanding.

  • Simply put, that form(the medium) is more important than the content in terms of how society is affected. The content mainly serves to strengthen and validate the ways the medium itself structures our senses, values, societies etc. Check out the clip "Terence McKenna on McLuhan" or "Riding Range with Marshall McLuhan"(seven parts, I think) for McKenna's take on it.

  • "do not watch" remember that youtubers, we all can produce too.

  • @Xziz10ths its called opening your mind a little.

  • @mos619 Terran OP.

  • @1nqual Those sound more like suggestions than truths.

  • @1nqual Personal experience isn't fact? It is fact for at least one. Why would you sift through his personal experiences to find something that suits your own? Hopefully you find that truth you're looking for.

  • @shantih433

you realize that is more contradictory and difficult to grasp......especially those whose have already decided what 'dogma' they want to follow. I.E.: Buddhism, Judo-Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Scientology, pantheonism...ect. It would require bloodshed. thats all i have to say to that. Besides most of these things are dangerous and pay debt(money) to a tyrannical system that doesnt know how to stop. you talk about it to them and they stare. the religous are dead inside.

  • @Xziz10ths The idea is to learn from and evaluate the concepts that other 'independent' and 'free' thinkers come up with, then move beyond them. Any idea obtained through progressive, open-minded enlightenment can be turned into dogma. It's up to the individual to recognize that no idea deserves to be dogma (except maybe for the idea that no idea deserves to be dogma!!).

  • @edyersh Thank you, coupling an all at once summary with the video is very helpful. :) Love #4

  • @Xziz10ths

There is a distinct difference between learning from others views and following blindly...
