The Stony Brook College Democrats gathered to watch the results come in live on election night.

We had a stake in more than just the presidency. In addition to campaigning for Barack Obama on campus and in nearby Pennsylvania over the last several months, we worked closely with local races as well. Tim Bishop won reelection as congressman for NY CD-1, and perhaps more importantly, Brian Foley won a hotly contested race for the state senate, where 82 year old Republican Caesar Trunzo lost by a surprisingly wide margin.

Foley's win cemented the Democrats as the party in control of Albany for the first time since the New Deal.

We created this ad to air on SBU-TV, the campus television station.

  • @Vince5ivesandthr33s It definitely failed. It didn't work. At all. When was the last time you saw a reaction to a President winning like this one in the video? There was no such excitement in 2010. In the words of Clinton, "it's still the economy, stupid" (not calling you stupid...it's part of the quote lol). Which party has presented bills to even attempt to help the economy and which used political tactics to block said attempts? Even in 2011, there aren't any IDEAS from the other side...

  • @teehoward1 It wasn't failed it was resisted, which is what Obama is currently facing now. By your definition the democrats ideology is now failing.

  • @acetong1990 I should have placed a bet that the first one you'd pull out was Rasmussen. Did I ever say the "conservative movement" was shrinking? I said that the world cheered when your failed ideology was rejected in 2008. These "polls" you continue to speak of, but don't produce verifiable links to, are not facts. They can be debated endlessly. I'm not here for that and fondling my reply button won't change my mind. Agree to disagree. We're both still Americans at the end of the day. Cheerio!

  • @teehoward1 The "teapublicans" didn't take both houses simply because their are some districts in this country that are always going to be far left no matter the situation in the country(California's pacific coast area, Boston, almost all of new york). Even though the republicans weren't able to win those districts(which no one expected them too those areas are always completely close minded) they however won alot of impendent voters, which the liberals completely lost the support of in 2010.

  • @teehoward1 What astroturf are you talking about? If your referring to the tea party I'm curious who you think is financing them? Next, My references? The rasmussen report reported more people now are identifiing themselves republican then democrat. USA today(a generally liberally slanted paper) reported the republicans are growing, the weekly standard also reported a growing conservative movement. Now give me your references on the conservative movement shrinking?

  • @acetong1990 @acetong1990 When I was in math class, our teacher used to tell us to "show our work". So, please, show your work. Where are the alleged polls that show a massive exodus to the right wing? All of the issues you listed started when? I would like to see where this "leftist" ideology is being "rejected". If people were so "disgusted" with the "far leftist ideology" (whatever that is...), then why didn't the Teapublicans not take over BOTH houses of Congress? I need the truth, please.

  • References please. ACTUALLY, 2009-2010 showed that conservatives were sore losers and have no attainable solutions or ideas. Grandstanding, record number of filibusters, astroturf "movements", etc. How about some IDEAS? I've yet to see any from the right wing. Just a bunch of rhetoric. Newsflash: the sky didn't begin falling in January 2008. If you can be honest about that one statement, we can begin moving forward in this country. Anyway, this wasn't a debate. We both know the truth. #thatsall

  • @teehoward1 once again 2009-2010 shows the American people are returning to the conservative ideology and also once again recent polling shows their still moving in that direction, what other proof do you need?! Furthermore I don't get why you call president Bush, "King Bush" like he's was some sort of major tyrant, so since you seem to think he was, explain to me how he was?
